Every ministry needs support, physically and spiritually, in order to thrive and be fruitful, for we cannot do this on our own. CYO includes many opportunities in which young adult & parent volunteers can be involved and support this ministry, and this could be monthly or weekly commitments. Please prayerfully discern if you are able to help us in the following ways and let us know if one or more ways fit your gifts and talents at this time.
With Wednesday Ministry Team: Each Wednesday from 6:30-8:00pm, we meet in the CYO Room. We hang out, eat pizza, play games for the first half of the evening and then do some sort of bible study or talk regarding a topic on the Christian life to integrate our faith into our lives. These volunteers would be asked to give testimonies or talks as well as lead small groups and games.
Sports (Coaching/Chaperoning): Throughout the year, we participate in multiple CYO leagues (volleyball, basketball, & cabbageball). We usually have 2-3 teams per sport and need at least three chaperones for each team to chaperone their practices and games. While we would love to have particular expertise in the sport, more than anything we need adults willing to help facilitate fair playing time and a virtuous atmosphere for our youth to enjoy community.
Service Opportunities Contact: We are always looking for opportunities to serve the poor and suffering of our local community and city. If you have contacts with organizations or ideas for service opportunities, we would love your help making this a more robust part of our CYO program.
Logistics and Set Up: Our special events such as the Lock-out, Retreat, Fun Trip. etc. take multiple areas of coordination. This team would help making store runs, preparing the set up of the event, coordinating necessary activities, etc.
Cook Team: Looking for volunteers willing to cook meals (chicken fingers, jambalya, hot dogs, etc) for 30-60 kids for specific events, especially our monthly CYO night. The SCS kitchen is available for use as long as clean up is also taken care of. CYO would reimburse for all food purchases.
Chaperoning Events: CYO has various events (service opportunities, monthly CYO nights, retreats, etc.) in which adults are needed to chaperone so that we can ensure safety.
